Profile
Don’s legendary career in blacksmithing has spanned over 40 years and earned him the title of Eminent Master Blacksmith as a holder of a Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths (WCB). He is proud to have been the first working smith for over 200 years to have been appointed as Prime Warden of the WCB during the late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year in 2012.
His forge in York completed many prestigious commissions including the two gothic gate pillars and lanterns which adorn the State Entrance to Westminster Abbey.
He has featured in a number of TV programmes promoting the art and craft of the blacksmith. He is also proud to see many of the young smiths he has trained at his forge going on to run their own successful businesses providing employment for more young aspiring smiths and keeping the ancient skills of the smith alive and relevant.
